New Russian SF magazine debuts edited by Boris Strugatsky: Noon: 21st Century [Polden 21st Vek]. The first issue came out in June, the second issue in August. They expect to be able to take subscriptions over the Internet "real soon now." (Aug 12, 02)

Click HERE and the link will take you to a page that starts with "Bibliograifya Fantastiki 2002" in Cyrillic characters. The months of the year are the Russian words to the left just below that. Click on the months and you will get lists of books alphabetical by author. Look for the Roman characters in [brackets] for the translated works.

Nik Perumov has photos of FantCon NP (15 June, '02) on his website. Perumov has announced he has stopped all writing, including work on The Magician's War [Voina maga] and he has no idea when it will come out certainly not before the fall of 2003. Photos from the latest Aelita awards, held in Ekatrinburg Russia, on the border of Asia, the June 13-15,2002 at the 'Greater Urals' Hotel, the 'Miloserdia' Library, and the Puppet Theater. The Aelita is the Russian Hugo, and this year it was won by Evgeny Lukin. Bella Klueva was awarded the prize named for I. V. Efremov;. Dmitry Baikalov won the prize named for V. Bugrov; Leonid Kaganov won the 'Start'; Igor Mojeiko (Kir Bulychev) received an unannounced award named afer I. G. Khalimbadzha, the archivist.
